Feature Request

For the global find/replace feature, add the ability to replace static text with variables/snippets. This seems like a fairly common use case. I have a term that appears hundreds of times in my docs, which is currently static text. I want to create a snippet for it, and then replace all instances of the static text with the snippet.

We describe a lot of UI elements for which we use snippets. If they are in the glossary, then the corresponding glossary entry is recommended. However, if a snippet exists, then it would be extremely helpful if I would automatically get a recommendation for the corresponding snippet. I don't know how this could be done technically because snippet names are not speaking names like glossary terms. Perhaps this could be looked at in the broader context of "unchangeable" snippet names (see other feature requests). Or perhaps by adding UI terms (and similar) as metadata to snippets, similar to how labels work. This would also greatly help with consistent use of snippets for things like ever-repeating UI elements.

Multiple requests saying it would be great to be able to create snippets from content within an article. This would be quicker than having to navigate to snippets, create a new one then insert it into the article.

Custom HTML snippets apply across every page of the knowledge base site. When a snippet intended only to load a resource (such as a font/icon stylesheet) also contains visible markup, that markup silently renders on every page, which isn't obvious until after publishing. Suggested enhancement: When a Custom HTML snippet is added or updated, detect visible HTML elements in the snippet and show a warning that this content will appear on every page of the site. Benefit: Users get immediate visibility into unintended sitewide rendering before it affects their live site, reducing troubleshooting time after publishing.

Add a folder hierarchy to the Snippets list so users can organize their snippets. For example, I may have a set of snippets that apply to a certain aspect of my product. If I could "store" them in a folder, I would be able to see the list of related snippets all in one place. This shouldn't affect the use of snippets in articles, nor the search function. It would just be for organizing snippets. This would be particularly useful for customers who want to use a large number of snippets.

One of the features I was most excited about when implementing Doc360 is the snippets tool. I was very disappointed to learn that I can hardly utilize them, because snippets cannot contain hyperlinks.

We use snippets for small sets of instructions that are included throughout our documentation. I'd like to be able to include variables such as buttons and field labels within the snippets.

We use a lot of snippets and it is inconvenient that we are unable to rename a snippet. I would like to have the option to rename a snippet or create a second copy of an existing snippet. It is time consuming to create a new snippet and delete the existing one when all I need to do is rename it.

I'd like to be able to organize snippets in folders.
