When an article (or category that is a page) is flagged as Updated, it should have some indication to the reader as to where the changes can be found. One way to accomplish this would be to add change bars like might be found in MS Word.
In order to make this work, it would be good to identify a version that this new version is updated since. This updated since version should be maintained until the updated flag is removed. Also, the updated since version would not be allowed to be the latest published version. Please take care when versions are deleted.
As an example, assume that we currently have an article that has versions 1 through 10. We may decide to indicate that this is updated since version 8. This would be maintained as long as the status remains updated, even if we publish new versions. The difference between the "updated since" version and the currently published version should be used to provide change bars (or some form of highlighting) to indicate that the area has been changed. Thus, in our example we would use the difference between version 8 and the currently published version to show the changes.
This would also remove any need to remove any additional notes that might have to be added just for highlighting what has changed. In the image provided you will find an example of where an article no longer indicates that it is updated, but yet a note that might have been added to highlight the change has been left in place.
