Manage article followers via API endpoint(s)
backlog
Veriff TW
I'd like to propose to build API functionality to fetch info about and manage the lists of article followers.
For example:
- GET /articleId endpoint to fetch list of email addresses following an article
- POST /articleId and/or PUT /articleId endpoints to add new emails to the list of followers
This is somewhat related to one of the analytics request (https://feedback.document360.com/feature-request/p/analytics-for-the-follow-an-article-feature), bc I agree with what's written there:
"I am sure this data is already available in the platform as notifications are sent to users who follow the article. It is just a matter of extracting that data and sharing it."
I'm also adding my vote to the requests asking for the options to:
- customise the followers notification email and create a way to include details about WHAT changed in the article (https://feedback.document360.com/feature-request/p/customise-email-template-for-follow)
- create followers analytics (link above)
Article follow option has great potential as a customer facing functionality. Let's materialise this potential!

Hi Veriff
Thank you for your well-articulated proposal and for highlighting the broader value of the article follow functionality.
We absolutely agree - there is strong potential for this feature to evolve into a more powerful customer-facing engagement and analytics tool. Your suggestions around exposing API endpoints to manage and retrieve follower data are both relevant and aligned with long-term extensibility goals. Specifically:
- GET /articleId: To retrieve the list of follower email addresses
- POST/PUT /articleId: To programmatically add followers
As you've rightly noted, the platform already leverages this data to send notification emails. Your point around surfacing and integrating it more effectively via API is well taken.
We also acknowledge and have recorded your support for:
- Customizing follower notification emails
- Displaying "what changed" in notifications
While we currently do not have these API capabilities or advanced follower analytics on our immediate roadmap, we are tracking interest and will evaluate prioritization based on broader customer traction.
That said, we’d like to highlight that we do provide article-level analytics today, which may support some of your visibility needs. You can learn more here:
We truly appreciate your feedback - it plays a key role in shaping our future enhancements.
