watermarking of downloaded PDF

For security purposes, protecting intellectual property that is detailed extensively in our documentation is of high priority. It would be useful to attach user credentials to any and all files that could be generated and downloaded from our company's knowledge base to discourage sharing beyond the personal use of our readers. If possible, could you add an intermediate step during the download action as such:
- A Knowledge Base reader initiates a download action by clicking the "PDF" button at the top of a page in our Knowledge Base
- The reader's user information (user email, datetime) is pulled from the login session
- The PDF that is downloaded includes the user's email and the datetime as a watermark on every page of the document

This would be super important for us too. The current watermark functionality is a bit useless if it can only display a fixed text like "Confidential" instead of automatically pulling the reader's email

Magnificent Grasshopper confused about your message. 1, 2, and 3 are 3 steps of the single process we want; these aren't different scenarios for you to evaluate. The request is simply: any downloaded PDF should watermark or otherwise include the user's email and datetime.
I also don't understand your comment about Article Settings & SEO. This only has the Meta Title, Slug, meta description, and options to exclude the article from doc search and external search engines. This has nothing to do with watermarking/tagging docs with user data.

Quaint Leopard Eggshell Lark thanks for such a detailed information about the request. We will have this evaluated for scenarios (2), (3) but for (1) we do option for readers to download from the KB site. This can be displayed based on configurational settings in Article Settings & SEO.
