Visual distinction between folders, index and pages

I would like to have a visual distinction between folders, index and pages. Meaning, that the user should be intuitively be able to identify which of the three a ">" link is going to be in the documentation. Indexes are clickable like pages, but pages contain additional information. Right now I could not tell if something is a folder, index or page before clicking on it.
Example: On your own documentation, me and my colleagues are under the impression that some users miss the fact that "Categories and subcategories" is a page, thus contains additional information in the form of an article.
Would it be possible to change the UI, so one can tell the difference between the three?
