Hi Nilesh
Thank you for bringing this to our attention.
We understand that it's quite common for user names - especially in global contexts - to include characters like hyphens. Currently, our sign-up form restricts special characters in the Name field to maintain input validation standards, but we agree that this limitation can be overly restrictive in real-world use cases.
The ability to support hyphens in the Name field is already in our backlog, and we recognize the importance of addressing this to improve the sign-up experience for readers. While we don’t have an exact ETA yet, this request is on our radar and will be prioritized.
We appreciate your patience and will notify you once this enhancement is available.

I guess The Artist Formerly Known As Prince, may he rest in peace, could never be a user... Joking aside, supporting hyphens and underscores, at minimum, makes sense.
