TOC structure improvements KB site 2.0
under review
Ramesh Lokesh
We’ve received feedback from our customers regarding the Table of Contents (TOC) behavior in KB Site 2.0. They’ve raised concerns about the heading structure and alignment, which is causing confusion for end users.
Currently, all H2 headings are left-aligned by default. However, when an H3 heading appears beneath an H2, the H2 heading becomes indented with an arrow, giving the impression that it’s a sub-heading of the previous H2. This creates a misleading hierarchy, as the indented H2 is not actually a sub-heading.
Additionally, the H3 heading shown under the expanded arrow is also not a sub-heading of the indented H2, further adding to the confusion. As a result, the TOC appears inconsistent and unclear in terms of heading structure.

Hi Ramesh
Thank you for sharing your detailed feedback regarding the Table of Contents (TOC) structure in the KB Site 2.0. We understand how the current indentation behavior of H2 and H3 headings can misrepresent the content hierarchy and impact user navigation.
We’re pleased to inform you that this improvement has been added to our Q3 roadmap. Our goal is to ensure the TOC accurately reflects the heading structure to avoid confusion and improve overall readability and usability.
We’ll keep you updated as we move forward with the development.

For comparison see the tree in the left pane vs the right pane. In the right image, "Share with customers" is an H2 like the other top-level items in the TOC.
