Selection / deselection consistency in PDF Export & Project Export
backlog
Uppili Srinivasan
We have the functionality in export of PDF that when we select the top/main category, the sub-categories get auto-selected – and when you un-select the top/main category it also un-select the sub-categories.
But we don’t experience the same behavior in export of HTML offline files / JSON export. We have to manually select and un-select the sub-categories.
Additionally we noted that if we select the language or workspace, all the categories and sub categories are selected. But if we select the top level category, the sub categories below it wont be selected. Same goes for deselection as well.
It would be great to have the same behavior as of PDF export in project export selection as well.

Hi Riffat Wyne , Uppili Srinivasan,
Thanks for sharing this observation. The current behavior you mentioned is intended for PDF export, where the auto-select and deselect functionality for main and sub-categories was designed specifically to reduce the number of clicks when dealing with large content sets (for example, when a category has 100 articles but only a few need to be exported).
That said, I completely understand the convenience of having consistent behavior across export types. We’ll keep this feedback noted as a potential enhancement for future export UI improvements to ensure a more unified experience.
Thanks again for bringing this up — your input helps us balance flexibility with ease of use across different export options.

This is becoming a critical issue for us, since we are planning to migrate content from Flare and Help&Manual to Document360. The teams are hesitant now to migrate.
If we aren't able to select/de-select from main top categories - it will become a huge task for Technical Writers to do it manually all the time, which will be very time consuming.
The process should be same for both export PDF or HTML.
