Search Within — Not Across — Knowledge Bases Without Applying Filter

Any time I search for articles in the portal search, it searches across all my company's KBs. But in my role I'm only in charge of one KB, so I want to be able to search my KB only and not have to filter other KBs out.
When end users are in our public KB, they have a search bar above all articles that searches just the KB they're in. This is exactly what I wish I could do: use a search bar that'd sit in between "content tools" and "categories and articles" on the left pane. Otherwise, I need to search in the portal search bar, click More Articles >>, then use the filter. There isn't even a setting to choose a KB within the "All" dropdown.
The current functionality seems like too many steps to perform a KB-specific search. My alternative is just searching within our public KB, but that involves having two tabs open side-by-side, and searching our public KB prevents me from seeing articles that are unpublished or hidden.
Thank you! :)

Hi Mhospodarsky ,
Thank you for your detailed feedback - this is a valid use case, and we appreciate you taking the time to outline the steps and impact so clearly.
To clarify, the current portal-level search is designed to provide a unified experience across all knowledge bases accessible to the user. However, we understand that for users focused on managing a single KB, the experience can feel cluttered and inefficient, especially when trying to locate content specific to one project.
That said, the search results you see are permission-based - meaning, only the content you have access to (based on your role and permissions) will be displayed in the results. Still, we recognize that this doesn’t fully solve the need for a more streamlined, KB-specific search experience within the portal.
We’ve noted your suggestion to introduce a dedicated search bar within the left pane - ideally positioned between “Content Tools” and “Categories and Articles.” This aligns well with the intuitive search behavior already available in the public KB and would improve efficiency for project-specific roles.
We’ve added your request to our backlog for internal review and prioritization. We’ll also evaluate the feasibility.
Thanks again for sharing this, and we’ll keep you updated on progress.
