Reader Group Access Defined At Article Level

It would be incredibly useful if I could define access for reader groups for not only categories, but specific articles under a category. There are times where I'd like a certain reader to be able to read the category page itself but not any articles under it. It is not always useful for articles to automatically be inherited when category access is granted.
I have ways to get around this in the short term by creating an unpublished dummy article under a category and using the article access control workflow, but it is incredibly convoluted and imperfect. Particularly since even though the category is now accessible it does not seem to appear in any searches.
TLDR: There needs to be a way to explicitly state category AND article access without automatic and implicit inheritance.

Amanda Atzil yeah sure this is feasible now as well, in the Documentation > Navigate to any article, then in the context menu > choose the security sub-menu, then select Knowledge base site and the configure reader groups to access the desired article. Please find the below screenshot for references. Kindly try the scenario and share your thoughts on the same.

Thiru: That is the method I mention in the original post that I can use to get around the issue. But this method does not work very well and is buggy. It also makes it very difficult to manage reader group access at scale if I have to go through each individual article's settings. This function should be with the rest of the reader group management category access settings.
