Global search across KB AND API for users
complete
Paula Stern
If a company want to use both the KB AND the new API functionality, it seems users are unable to search for results in both places at the same time. This is very unfortunate behavior because it puts the burden of knowing where the information is on the user. For the API tool to be fully effective, it must be part of the global search for users.

Hi Shakeer Hussain S. - Thank you for implementing other workspaces into the search bar. I already set that all workspaces be automatically checked in the Portal settings, but customers can only see other workspaces if they go into Advanced Search. I noticed that a maximum of five results show up in the search bar (not Advanced Search). If there are five instances of the keyword in the main Knowledge base, five show up. However, if there are only four, and the rest of the instances appear in other knowledge bases (API docs, for example), it will not show up as the fifth entry.
I've attached three screenshots:
- An entry that has at least five instances in the main KB
- An entry that has at least four instances in the main KB
- The same second entry, when accessed through the Advanced Search
I'm saying that the search is still not unified if users have to go into another page to find the relevant keyword in the other knowledge bases.

Hi Paula Nur - Exciting Update: Enhanced Advanced Search Now Available - Effortlessly Find Help Articles & API Endpoints!
We're thrilled to share that our Advanced Search feature has received a significant upgrade to enhance your user experience even further!
With this latest enhancement, you can effortlessly locate Help articles and API endpoints within your API documentation via the Workspace filter and designated tabs. Simply enter a keyword into the search field, and the system will conveniently isolate pertinent content across these specific areas. An image is attached for your reference to illustrate this new capability. We encourage you to explore this improvement and kindly share your thoughts with us.

Paula Stern would like to clarify if you are referring to search across all workspaces in the KB site option? And same to be accomplished through the API's as well ?
Paula Stern
Thiru: No. From what I can tell, the Search already works on each of the workspaces in the KB site and between them. We want a CROSS-search. It's one of the main reasons why we decided to go with a single platform rather than a help authoring tool AND an API platform. We want our users to search for a term and get results from BOTH the KBs AND the API sections.
It's a major inconvenience for a user not to get full results. Our documentation covers three users - Standard Users, Developers and Admins. While we don't expect standard users to need anything in the Admin (KB) or User (KB) sections, we do expect our Admins and Developers to need information in Admin (KB) and Dev (API) and perhaps even some from the User (KB) sections.
Is this possible? This is a huge showstopper for us.
