Getting out fo an ordered or unordered list in block editor
planned
Yossi Karp
If you've finished creating an ordered or unordered list in the block editor and you want to begin a new regular paragraph, the only way to do it is to enter / and select the numbered or bulleted list, to cancel it out. However, if you've created a bulleted or numbered list that's a few levels deep (say, a numbered list with a bulleted list inside it) then you have to enter / and select the appropriate option to cancel out of the bulleted list, and again to cancel out of the numbered list. This is a terrible user experience. There needs to be a Paragraph option so you can just enter /paragraph and all ordered and unordered lists are canceled so you get to a plain ordinary paragraph immediately.

Just want to add my support for this ticket request. The block editor has great potential but is still quite frustrating in terms of the formatting output we expect to deliver to our customers.
Thanks for prioritizing this.

Hi Yossi, We truly understand your concern regarding the current user experience in the block editor. To improve your editing experience and streamline this transition, we agree that there should be a more straightforward option, which instantly cancels all list types, bringing you to an ordinary paragraph format.
In a list, it is expected that pressing the Enter key (or) Backspace key would automatically exit the list function and allow you to start a new paragraph. Regrettably, the current functionality does not support exiting the list without using the Enter key or unselecting it by selecting the same.
We are actively working on the list enhancement. We have considered your feedback, and will surely try to address your expectations in the implementation. We will keep you posted on this. We appreciate your understanding and patience.
