Enable Article Editing for Scheduled Publishing

Currently, if we schedule an article for publishing in Doc360, the editor does not allow us to make any changes to it.
For any other instance, like when an article Workflow Status is in review, the changes can be made in real time. However, the only time the editor locks us out is during a scheduled publish.
We want the ability to edit a scheduled article without having to move it to draft first. This increases the time to switch to draft and then schedule it afterward. Ideally, it should be smooth sailing as long as the article is unpublished.
For example, in Slack, we have the option to edit scheduled messages without having to change their state. Once the editing is done, the user clicks the checkmark icon, and the updated message is locked for sending.

Hi Usama,
We understand the challenge you’re highlighting. Today, a scheduled article being locked for edits. But other states like In Review, where real-time edits are allowed. Reverting an article to draft just to make a small change and then re-scheduling it adds avoidable overhead and breaks editorial flow. Your Slack analogy is a good reference point - editing should remain seamless as long as the article is unpublished.
To evaluate this thoroughly and ensure we design this correctly, we’d like to clarify a few points:
Schedule integrity
When edits are made, should the original scheduled publish date/time remain unchanged by default, or should users be explicitly prompted to reconfirm the schedule?
Audit & governance
Should edits made to a scheduled article be tracked differently in version history or audit logs compared to draft or review states?
Permissions & roles
Should this capability be available to all editors who can edit drafts today, or restricted to specific roles (e.g., Admins / Owners)?
This feedback is well noted and aligns with improving editorial efficiency. Once we align on these aspects, we can assess feasibility, effort, and roadmap placement with more confidence.
