Delete article tags

We want to be able to delete article tags. We have tags that are no longer used or were created by AI and attached to an article without us needing them.

I just tried and was able to delete a tag. Went to Content Resources > Content Management > Tags
Then I just deleted tags. It removed tags that were in use from articles to. So, is this request necessary or was it completed and never marked as such?
