Collapse sub-headings in TOC

The customer has requested that the sub-headings in the TOC section remain collapsed by default.
We understand that we previously received a requirement to do the opposite—i.e., to have the TOC sub-items expanded—which led to our recent implementation.
In light of these differing needs, we suggest implementing a toggle option that allows users to choose whether TOC headings are expanded or collapsed by default, based on their preference or requirement.

We have a need for this too.
We have a number of documents that have say 100 H2 Headings, all of which have multiple H4 headings.
The TOC being full expanded by default makes it practically useless and it takes forever to scroll through to find the heading or sub heading that a user is looking for.
We would like the TOC to be completely collapsed by default (but not hidden as support misunderstood when they provided me with JS earlier today), and as stated as different clients of Document360 have different needs there should be a toggle switch either globally or on the article level (or preferably both where the article level overrides the global level for exceptions) that we can use.

Hi sneha Thank you for sharing the feedback on behalf of the customer.
Ambuj Thank you for sharing your feedback regarding the default collapsed state of sub-headings in the Table of Contents (TOC) section.
We understand that this request differs from a prior requirement to expand TOC sub-items by default, which influenced our recent implementation. Given these varying preferences, offering a configurable toggle could be a more flexible solution.
We’ve added this to our analysis queue and will evaluate & we’ll keep you updated here once it’s picked for development.
