Automation to Update Article Slugs for Version-Based Releases

We have a customer, who releases new product versions periodically (e.g., every 6 months) often create new release notes by cloning existing categories and articles. Since the differences between versions are minimal, cloning helps reuse most of the existing content.
However, after cloning, customers need to update the slug of each article to reflect the new version number. When there are a large number of articles (e.g., 100+), manually updating each slug becomes time-consuming and prone to errors.
Customer requests to provide an automation or bulk action that allows them to update the slug for multiple articles at once (for example, replacing the version number in the slug across all selected articles). This would significantly reduce manual effort when preparing release notes for new product versions.

Hi Coral reef Marsupial Nilesh
Thank you for sharing this use case.
We understand that when new product versions are released, customers often clone existing categories and articles to reuse the majority of the content for the next version’s release notes. In scenarios where a large number of articles are involved, manually updating the slug for each article to reflect the new version number can indeed become time-consuming and increase the risk of errors.
The request to introduce an automation or bulk action that allows updating slugs across multiple selected articles (for example, replacing the version number within the slug) is a valid improvement that could significantly streamline the workflow when preparing release documentation for new product versions.
We will discuss this requirement internally with the product and engineering teams to evaluate possible approaches and feasibility. Once we have more clarity on the next steps or roadmap consideration, we will share an update.
