Apply the restriction only to the page-type category, without extending it to the associated articles
Ramesh Lokesh
Currently, when access to a page-type category is restricted for a specific Reader or Reader Group, the associated articles under that category are also restricted and become inaccessible to that Reader or Reader Group.
Since the system treats a page-type category as an article, the customers expect the restriction on the page-type category to apply only to that specific category and not to cascade to the related articles.

Hi Ramesh
Thanks for raising this. To ensure we clearly understand the expected behavior and avoid unintended permission impacts, could you please help clarify the following:
- When a page-type category is restricted, should only that page be restricted while its associated articles remain accessible (if they don’t have separate restrictions)?
- Should page-type categories ignore permission inheritance and behave differently from standard categories?
- If the page-type category is restricted but articles are accessible, should those articles still appear in search and be accessible via direct URL?
- Should this change apply to existing setups or only moving forward?
