Adding Keywords to Machine Translation
Pavlyna Diakiv
When using machine translation, terms are often translated too literally. For example, “Windows (platform)” may be translated into German as “windows” (the physical objects), rather than being recognized as an operating system.
We also use established feature names that are already localized in each language, but the machine translation still translates them literally instead of using the approved terms.
It would be helpful to have the ability to upload a list of keywords or terms that:
- Should not be translated (e.g., operating system, product names)
- Should be translated using specific, predefined terms
For example, we could upload an Excel file containing English terms alongside their approved translations in other languages. During translation, the system would reference this list and apply the specified terms automatically, ensuring consistency and accuracy across all content.
