Add comments to snippets

We want to be able to add comments to text inside snippets just like with normal text. We use comments to communicate with QA as content passes through the workflow. Not being able to comment on snippets is a real blocker - we cannot ask questions to QA, and QA in turn cannot alert us to content issues.

Hi Claus
Thank you for raising this thoughtful request — we completely understand how valuable inline commenting within snippets would be for your content review and QA workflow.
At the moment, snippets in Document360 are treated as shared, reusable content entities that can appear across multiple articles and workspaces. The current commenting framework is article-scoped, meaning it’s designed to store and render comments only within individual articles.
To support inline comments inside snippets, we would first need to enhance our underlying commenting and content architecture to handle:
- Cross-article reference tracking — ensuring a comment on a snippet is properly associated across all instances where that snippet appears.
- Visibility and ownership management — defining who can view, reply to, or resolve comments on shared snippet content (especially across teams or workspaces).
- Version and publishing consistency — ensuring snippet updates don’t break comment threads or create desynchronization across reused content.
These are foundational enhancements that need to be in place before we can consider enabling inline comments inside reusable components like snippets.
We’ve captured your request and added it to our enhancement backlog, and it will be revisited once those structural improvements are prioritized. Your feedback helps us plan this roadmap more thoughtfully.
Thank you again for highlighting such a practical workflow use case — it reinforces where deeper collaboration capabilities can evolve next.
