Spaces deleted after variables and bold

I've noticed that if I add a variable or bold text, the space after that text gets deleted.
For example, I have a variable that displays "Smart Labeling". If this variable is followed by a space, that space is often deleted. If it's followed by a comma or period, it's fine.
See the highlighted text in the attached screenshot.
The same thing happens with bold text.
I've tried adding a in the code, but that doesn't work--it gets deleted mysteriously.

We have this same issue but cannot use the block editor as a work around as you cannot put a variable inside a private note in block as we exclusively using only private notes to create our articles.
I have also tried the which as Bianca said also get deleted after a variable just as a regular space does

The issue occurs due to a limitation in the existing WYSIWYG editor. The issue is addressed in the new Block editor. We request you once test the scenario in the Block editor. If the Block editor is not enabled for your project, please reach out to us, we will do the needful.
