No reaction of knowledge base assistant button for private access

I have a private knowledge base (requires login). I used the knowledge base assistant button in a website. But if the user is not logged into the knowledge base, the button is not responding at all.
Expected behaviour: a click on the knowledge base assistant button will open the knowledge base in a new tab/window and allows the user to login.

Oh, this got "fixed" - but now it is visible for everyone. Even without login. This is even worse
