Adding a link in a list indicates text becomes italics

While editing an article, if I add a link in a list, the rest of list looks like Italics in the editor. Might be related to setting for link to open in a new tab
In the preview (and I guess in the published version) the list looks OK - so this low priority issue IMHO.

This is a big issue for us and prevents us from using the "open in new tab/window" checkbox. Markdown syntax must be _readable_. If everything after a link looks italicized, it really throws off our contributors and also makes it much harder for our editorial staff to spot syntax errors.
